Rand Water Panfontein site
Project Overview
This construction of a water treatment plant was an interesting build, but also a difficult one at the same time. The difficulty came in whereby everything that we did have to be environmentally friendly at all times.
Before construction could begin, a thorough environmental impact assessment had to be conducted by all the different sub-contractors. We had to identify sensitive eco systems, wildlife habitats as well as water sources that could be affected by our materials including the delivery trucks bringing material to site.
The most interesting aspect of this project is that half of the plant where the machines and pumps are going to be housed is buried underground, under the huge tanks that are doing the sediment/water separation.
